I like open loft areas of a home that look down on the first floor. Obviously this is only possible with a 2-story home. If you like the idea of an elevated balcony off of your primary bedroom, you definitely want a 2 story home. The average home size is much larger today than it was 50 years ago. The 1950’s bungalow is tiny compared to homes in newer suburbs.
